The 100% online Master of Science in Sport Management Studies degree program was created to meet the needs of working sport industry professionals looking to increase their knowledge of sport management and obtain a high level of professional growth. Emphasis is placed on preparing students for positions of management and leadership within the sport industry. Students study and discuss real-life scenarios to ensure their competency in today’s competitive sport industry.

  • MS Sport Management Studies - Sport Management:- The Sport Management curriculum was created especially for presentation via the Internet. Students have the option of completing the Sport Management Generalist Track, the Facility and Event Management Track or the Intercollegiate Athletic Administration Track. In addition to the Sport Management Generalist, Facilities and Event Management, and Intercollegiate Athletic Administration tracks, post-bachelor’s certificates in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration and Facilities and Event Management are also available.

    In addition to coursework, the Sport Mentorship experience provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate the ability to apply sport management theory and principles in a practical setting. Students are afforded the flexibility to select the site in which they will complete their mentorship, or they may work with California University Sport Management Studies faculty in selecting a site.

    The Intercollegiate Athletic Administration track has been developed in consultation with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE PROGRAM, STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
  • Incorporate data generated from research studies when developing managerial strategies to enhance the overall effectiveness of sport organizations.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to solve controversies and issues related to the sport cultures.
  • Integrate current marketing theory when creating a strategic marketing plan for use in the practical setting.
  • Assess the effectiveness of strategies used by sport organizations to maintain, or improve stakeholder relations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the issues and principles of law as it applies to the sport industry.
  • Create a strategic financial plan for generating additional resources for sport organizations, and for the successful management of resources once procured.
  • Formulate strategies to deal with moral and ethical problems related to sport in its intrinsic and extrinsic dimensions.
  • Apply management-related skills and behaviors to maximize the efficiency of sport organizations.


  • MS Sport Management Studies - Intercollegiate Athletic Administration:- In order to meet the needs of working sport industry professionals who are looking to increase their knowledge of sport management while obtaining a high level of professional growth, the Master of Science in Sport Management Studies online program was created and implemented within the California University of Pennsylvania Department of Health Science and Sport Studies in collaboration with the Keystone University Network.

    The emphasis of the program is on preparing students for positions of management and leadership within the sport industry. The program recognizes the need for developing the student's capacity to solve many problems arising from ever-changing economic difficulties, political and regulatory conditions, and marketing strategies. Students study and discuss real-life scenarios to ensure their competency in today's competitive sport industry.

    Students enrolled in the online program are primarily full-time working adults who are highly motivated and self-disciplined in seeking completion of a graduate degree. Distance learning via the Web is an exciting opportunity that offers the student the flexibility to take classes and earn a graduate degree without leaving the home or job.

    Program length consists of 13 consecutive months, beginning in July and finishing in August of the following summer. Thirty students per cohort, learn, and communicate online and regularly function as a group of interactive peers.

    The Intercollegiate Athletic Administration track has been developed in consultation with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
